ABSTRACT
The article discusses migrations from the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Region to Ljubljana during the inter-war years when Primorska was annexed to Italy as part of the Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The Slovenes of the Primorska region were faced with a harsh regime that impacted their political, economic, cultural and social life. The combination of economic distress and a strained political situation undoubtedly contributed to the migration outflow of Slovenes and Croatians to Yugoslavia, which according to official data accepted approximately 70,000 emigrants. A great number of natives from Primorska found their new homes in Ljubljana which at the time was one of the biggest immigration centres in Yugoslavia. Supported by statistical processing and analysis of the 1928 Ljubljana census lists, the article aims to show the structure of the Primorska immigrant community in the Slovenian capital.
