ABSTRACT
Path-ordered phase factors of gluon fields are used to construct gauge invariant quark Green's functions. Polygonal lines for the paths allow for a classification of the Green's functions according to the number of sides they contain. A closed set of relationships is obtained for these types of Green's function through functional relations among them. The corresponding equations of motion lead to integrodifferential equations with kernels involving Wilson loops along polygonal contours. Four-point Green's functions lead to bound state equations.

It is shown that in the framework of an analytical confinement, when quark and gluon propagators are induced by a vacuum self-dual gluon field with constant strength, the masses of mesons with quantum numbers Q = ( J P , n), where n is the radial quantum number, and quark constituents m 1, m 2...

We study the effect of Higgs-boson exchange on the heavy quarkonium QQ which induces a strong attractive force between a heavy quark Q and an antiquark Q. The criterion for making the QQ bound state is studied. The nonperturbative effects due to gluonic field fluctuations are rather small in...

The effect of nonperturbative fields on instantons in QCD is investigated. The nonperturbative vacuum is described in terms of nonlocal gauge-invariant vacuum expectation values of gluon fields. An effective action for instantons is obtained in the bilocal approximation, and it is shown that a...

Minkowski and Ochs have recently argued that the small two photon coupling of a conjectured σ(600) is so small that it is likely to be a glueball. We ask whether this can be so or whether it is simply gauge invariance that produces the observed low mass suppression? © 2001 American...

Weyl’s theorem is extended making use of the theory of concomitants to obtain a Lagrangian density for the massless bosonic fields without dimensional constants. It turns out to be quadratic in the gravitational field and encompasses all the theories that usually appear in the literature....
