ABSTRACT
WHEN Grant Gilchrist was named in the Scotland squad to play the All Blacks this week, there would have been a few happy faces down in Canterbury, New Zealand. The big second-row from Alloa was a popular trainee at the Canterbury Crusaders academy a couple of years ago when he was there on a McPhail Scholarship, a scheme open to all aspiring young Scottish rugby players.
