ABSTRACT
The article presents the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) organization's guidelines related to the management of the developing dentition and occlusion in pediatric dentistry. Particular focus is given to the recognition, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of dentofacial abnormalities. Recommendations are offered related to oral habits such as nonnutritive sucking, airway obstruction, and bruxing; congenitally missing teeth; and ectopic eruption (EE) permanent first molars. Crossbites, ankylosis, and malocclusion are mentioned.
