ABSTRACT
The article provides tips on how individuals submitting a Deferred Action application in the U.S. can protect themselves from scam artists. It notes that only certain people are authorized to provide legal advice and one should make sure that the person hired is qualified to handle immigration matters. The applicant should also ask for the credentials, the state where the person is licensed and since when. It recommends getting a written contract with details on the fees and services provided.
