ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to approach the aesthetic ideas of the plastic artist Manuel Quintana Castillo, foregrounding the relationship between them and the consolidation of the aesthetic language in his paintings. To do so, his writings and statements, products of the artist's consistent research, were categorized. This work is framed within the modality of documentary research with support in the hermeneutic and structural methods. The results have evidenced that: a) the artist has developed a thought that is coherent and parallel with his artistic praxis; b) his ideas can be interpreted as aesthetic categories; c) these aesthetic categories can be considered as a possible approach to knowledge and comprehension of the Venezuelan art current aesthetics.
