ABSTRACT
The author focuses on using a rose as the subject of her painting. She painted the "Faith Whittlesey" as part of a body of work called "Rose Studies" which was exhibited at the Horticultural Society of New York in 2008 and 2010 and at the San Francisco Botanical Garden in California in 2011. She claims that she takes time to know the rose as the subject of her painting through careful observation and drawing it repeatedly from different perspectives.
