ABSTRACT
The article profiles Peggy Gerard and Roxana Mirkarimi, teachers from Alberta. Gerard graduated with a B.Ed. from the University of Calgary in 1975. She says that teachers were responsible for imprinting students with a textbook's contents. Mirkarimi completed her B.Ed. program at the University of Calgary, and she was struck by Alberta's more free-form, inquiry-based learning.
