ABSTRACT
The article presents a temporary safety zone established by the U.S. Coast Guard on the navigable waters of the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2012. The safety zone is in support of the Fireworks display for the National Emergency Number Association (NENA)/Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International Inc. (APCO) Conference. The action is essential to protect the life of the spectators and maritime public from the hazards posed by the fireworks displays.
