ABSTRACT
The article reports on the integration of behavioral and medical health services to address the growing mental health and substance abuse problems in the U.S. Physician Bruce Schwartz sees an opportunity to boost mental health and substance abuse treatment in the transformation of the country's health care delivery model. The American Hospital Association predicts that nearly half of the U.S. public will develop a mental illness during their lifetimes.
