The article focuses on the trade unions within the U.S. in 2012. Topics include the history and development of the trade union movement in the U.S. after World War II, the creation of the American Federation of Labor (AFL), and the impact of the Industrial Revolution on labor laws in the U.S. Information is provided on the merger between the AFL and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) to form the AFL-CIO, international union affiliates, and the creation of the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
