ABSTRACT
The article reports that researchers at the John Innes Centre are looking for varieties to produce ramularia-resistant barley varieties and reduce the dependence on fungicides. Plant pathology researcher Neil Havis explains the problem of resistance to ramularia in Great Britain, particularly in areas that have a late season and longer periods of leaf wetness. He notes the effectiveness of fungicides such as SDHI and prothioconazole against the disease.
