ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the occupation of corporate treasurer by featuring two financial executives, Jan P. Berger of Autodesk Inc. and Michael Dastugue of J.C. Penney Co., who discuss the profession and business conditions. Issues that concern Berger include corporate insurance, new legislation and standards for expensing stock options, domestic liquidity and foreign exchange, and reporting requirements that are set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and U.S Securities and Exchange Commission. Dastugue focuses on providing financial flexibility for his company over the next few years, bank consolidation, monitoring pension funds, and the insurance markets.
