School Librarian;Spring2010, Vol. 58 Issue 1, p11
The article discusses the issues and shortcomings facing the traditional libraries with the pace of technological developments. It cites the survey reported by Marian Sainsbury which found that boys are more likely to read comics, newspapers, and information books whereas girls prefer stories, poems, and magazines. However, it revealed that the number of books issued in the school library to male pupils was greater than those borrowed by females. It suggests that the use of non-fiction books may better library issues. It also highlights the widespread use of the world wide web which affected the role of the librarians.
