ABSTRACT
The article discusses a court case wherein Ghandi Nawaf Mallak filed a lawsuit against the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform in Ireland after his request for Irish citizenship was denied. The Minister reasoned that his decision was based on the provisions under the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Acts of 1956 and 1986. Mallak claimed that his rights of effective remedy under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the Charter of Fundamental Rights had been violated.
