The article presents thoughts from the editor of the journal concerning a number of topics on the subject of the history of Humboldt County, California, and the Humboldt County Historical Society as of February 1982. He discusses the death of Native American David Risling, Sr., the length of the current issue of the journal, and the Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW) organization. The editor also invites readers of the journals to submit articles to the journal for publication, and recognizes several volunteers who provided time to the journal including Humboldt County residents Lucille Brauner, Laura Schuler, and Marie Hemenway.
