Biomarkers characterization of circulating tumour cells in breast cancer patients

The article focuses on a study that analyzes the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of patients with breast cancer. The researchers objective was to distinguish the set of biomarkers in CTCs and correlate it with clinical-pathological characteristics. The study concluded that the CTC biomarkers profiles might be useful as a surrogate marker for therapeutic selection and monitoring of the disease.
