ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study which evaluated the thermal properties of a gentamicin sulfate as a small molecule drug model for freeze-drying cycle optimization. The study employed freeze-dry microscopy (FDM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to determine the critical formulation temperature (CFT) at different concentrations of the solution. It states that the collapse temperature of the solutioin determined by FDM was relevant CFT for process optimization.
