The article discusses the problem in the teaching of skills-based trades, such as typography, in Canada. Topics covered include the elimination of typography programs in major colleges and universities, important role of a professional typographer in the visual communication and advertising sectors and the tendency for typography instructors to be pushed into non-teaching positions.
