ABSTRACT
The article reports on the formation of the Rough Riders dirt racing team by Ford Motor Co. in the U.S. The arrival of the Rough riders team in 1991 was also perfectly timed for Ford who, in that same year, was seeking to replace its Bronco II with a new and more sophisticated sport utility vehicle called the Explorer. Ford tapped desert racing events to help in the marketing promotion by proving the toughness of the new platform.
