ABSTRACT
The article says that the third generation forward error correction (FEC) algorithms, used in the analog-to-digital conversion, are being used by optical suppliers to achieve optimal performance at 100g wavelengths. In these FECs, more powerful encoding and decoding algorithms, iterative coding and soft decision FEC (SD-FEC) are used.
