ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a final rule issued by the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) which focuses on the modification of the Individual Fishing Quota Program for the Fixed-Gear Commercial Fisheries for Pacific Halibut and Sablefish in Waters in and off Alaska. It discusses the need of this action for achieving the catch limit from the halibut fisheries and optimum yield from the sablefish fisheries in Alaska. This final rule will be effective from June 18, 2012.
