ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a final rule issued by the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which focuses on the identification of communities where the sale of flood insurance has been authorized under the National Flood Insurance Program. It discusses the publication of a Flood Insurance Rate Map by FEMA to identify the Special Flood Hazard Areas in these communities. This final rule will be effective from June 5, 2012.
