Why Board Culture Matters

The article focuses on interpersonal and group dynamics in boardrooms. A scenario is presented wherein an unhealthy board culture causes dysfunctional relationships and hinders organizational success. Developmental stages that a group undergoes before it can handle problems effectively are explained such as dependence, counterdependence and resolution. Formal board leadership development programs and developing guidelines for meetings are discussed as promoting a healthy board culture.
