ABSTRACT
The article describes the background and mechanics for America's Transportation Awards. The competition was created by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials with the American Automobile Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The objective is to recognize excellent work done by local transportation agencies. Competition mechanics, starting from the regional level up to the top two prizes, are explained. Winners of the 2011 competition are also presented.
