Tale of the tape for California snowpack May 1

April 2012
Western Farm Press Exclusive Insight;4/30/2012, p6
The article announces the May 1st final snow survey by the U.S. Department of Water Resources off Highway 50 near Echo Summit in California. The manual survey will use sensors to determine the snowpack melting rate from the mountains into the streams and basins where one-third of the state's water supply come from. According to DWR, the above average reservoir supply from the April 2 reading offers a better water provision in 2012.
