ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles® (GARP®) that help business enterprises improve their management of records and information by using a general set of maturity measures. It mentions the need for ensuring data integrity, and the reliability and authenticity of information in view of various factors such as new laws and regulations related to information technology (IT), and increased scrutiny of electronically stored information (ESI) by courts. It discusses the importance of quality control and the metadata, the risks associated with outsourcing or moving to the cloud, and the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) function that manages the assurance of system integrity and data authenticity.
