ABSTRACT
The article offers information on how computers have helped predict future fashion for 1987. A UNIVAC computer was employed to study evening dress from the previous 25 years with the major trends separated from transitory style characteristics. It predicts that fashion for 1987 would be Empire silhouette skirt, skirts longer for day, shorter for evening, coats very full and shorter than dresses and necklines higher by day and plunging by evening.
