The article discusses the effects of solar storms upon electrical systems. It explains that the sun constantly emits charged particles into space, forming the phenomenon of solar wind, creating an electromagnetic interference which has the potential to knock out power grids and digital technologies on Earth. Details concerning the sun's nature as a giant mass of superconductive plasma are also presented.
