ABSTRACT
The article presents information on Volusia County's Florida Schools' Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Leaders state that much of the program's success is due to workplace experience, community collaboration and exposure, and a strong academic curriculum. Core academic subjects such as math, English, or science and hands-on projects comprise the academic component of the program. The CTE program asserts that occupational training from an early age is essential in order to prepare children for future job requirements which will likely require scientific literacy.
