ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of sport as a sponsorship vehicle in promoting brands. A survey of the sports stars' attitude towards marketing in Australia found that 75% of athletes did not agree with elite athletes promoting unhealthy foods or alcohol products while 46% claimed that advertising these products have no place in sport. It cites the need for sponsors to take a corporate responsibility for their products and for athletes to support healthy living campaigns.
