ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the relations of Syria with other countries. The primary goals of the foreign policy of President Bashar al-Assad include maintaining influence among its Arab neighbors and achieving a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace settlement. Full diplomatic relations with Egypt was reestablished in 1989. Syria also played an important role in Lebanon as it was part of post-Ottoman Syria until 1926.
