ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the government of Syria. The Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party was vested by the Syrian constitution with leadership functions in the state and society. The constitution also provides broad powers to the president. Ministers are appointed by the president and he can issue laws and declare war and states of emergency.
