ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the report of the Association of American Medical Colleges that in 2011, there were 5,581 African American students in medical schools across the U.S. It mentions that Blacks composed 6.9% of all U.S. medical school graduates in 2002, has increased to 7.1% in 2006 and a total 1,129 Black graduates from U.S. medical schools in 2011. It also notes that 16% of African American medical students are enrolled at Howard, Morehouse and Meharry historically Black medical schools.
