ABSTRACT
The article discusses two developments in April 2012 that had a positive impact on the political standing of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. According to the author, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 23 of the 33 seats in the district and municipal by-elections on April 10, 2012. On the same date, the Indian Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team exonerated Modi of involvement in the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre.
