California wine blankets America as shipments explode

The article reports that according to wine industry consultant Jon Fredrikson of Gomberg, Fredrikson & Associates, sales of California wine within the U.S. increased to 211.9 million cases in 2011, equivalent to a 5.6 percent increase in volume compared to 2010. A 5.6 percent increase was noted in global 2011 California wine sales in U.S. markets and worldwide, amounting to 256.6 million cases. The U.S. Tax and Trade Bureau approved 120,000 new wine labels from wineries worldwide in 2011.
