ABSTRACT
The article reports on the 14.7% year-on-year albums sales drop in the compact disc (CD) market as the digital album sales endure the growth of 33.1% in 2011 in Great Britain. Paul Quirk of Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) describes the 25.4% drop in the first quarter (Q1) of 2012 in CD album sales as considerable. Andria Vidler of EMI Music UK & Ireland suggests getting consumer at the heart of the development of the product rather than simply what delivers the highest margins.
