ABSTRACT
The article examines the role of internal fixation and elbow arthroplasty in the management of distal humeral fractures. The principles, techniques and advantages and disadvantages of both the treatment approaches are described in detail. It is suggested that future studies should focus on developing less invasive surgical techniques and improved implants and also on minimizing complications such as infection, ectopic bone formation and persistent ulnar neuropathy.
