ABSTRACT
This experiment was conducted to find out the effects of Thyme on performance, egg quality, blood biochemical and immunity parameters of laying hens. This study was carried out with 240 of Hy- line (W36) hens in 4 treatment groups and 3 repetitions and 20 hens for each group. The groups were T1) Control group, T2,T3, and T4 1% ,1.5%, and 2% Thyme powder respectively. According to the results, there were significant effects of thyme using on performance, egg quality and blood biochemical parameters of hens (P<0.05). Thyme improved the performance parameters also the highest percent of egg production and the highest index of yolk were seen in the group 4. Also the serum total cholesterol and Triglycerides concentration were significantly reduced in group of 4 compared to the control group (P<0.05). But the concentration of serum HDL and LDL were not significantly reduce in groups compared to the control group. The results evidence that the using of thyme did not show significantly effects on the immune system of laying hens.
