ABSTRACT
The former war reporter blasts the dumbed-down coverage from today's battle zones Television news is the primary medium of war reporting and is brought to us by brave people who often risk their lives. Dedicated news channels such as the BBC's and Sky's mean reporters can bring us up-to-the-minute stories from anywhere in the world. But I believe technological advances have also caused problems. The frenzy of the rolling news cycle has put pressure on journalists to be the first and the fastest rather than the most reliable; these proliferating news channels often go to air knowing very little and rumour often masquerades as truth.
