ABSTRACT
The contribution to the cross section for D[sup *]-meson photoproduction at the HERA accelerator from the scattering of the virtual c&cmacr; vector mesons in the content of the photon on a proton is estimated within the vector-dominance model. It is shown that this mechanism plays an important role throughout the range of D[sup *]-meson transverse momenta available at the HERA facility and that its inclusion significantly improves a theoretical description of the experimental differential distributions.

Nuclear transparency for incoherent real and virtual photoproduction of vector mesons off nuclei depends crucially on the interplay of the initial-state and final-state interactions. We develop a consistent description of initial-state and final-state interactions based on the coupledchannel...

The production of mesons (or photons) in deep-inelastic lepton scattering gives access to information on the structure of hadrons that is otherwise hard to obtain. When the production process involves at least one hard scale and is exclusive, the data can be interpreted in terms of the recently...

Low-energy meson-meson scattering data are a powerful testing ground for quark models. Here, we describe the behaviour at threshold of S-wave scattering-matrix singularities.
