ABSTRACT
The article comments on the deficit strategy of Peter Orszag, former chief of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). It critiques Orszag for alleging that democracy is a stumbling block to certain policy decisions. It argues against the thinking of Orszag on policies needed to support a weak economy, such as larger deficit in 2011 and 2012 and increased taxes and spending.
