The article offers the author's views on the need of dealership buyers to apply their own franchise agreement as they acquire dealerships. He says that the buy-sell agreements only represent seller's resignation as franchisee and does not assign franchise to the buyer at the transaction closing. He adds that buyer should be prepared to negotiate with the franchisor as they can impose terms and conditions to the buyer. He also says that buyers should know their state-law rights as they transact.
