ABSTRACT
The article offers the author's insights on vitality and community theories as conceptions of human dignity that serve as the basis of African moral thinking on human rights. The author states that community theory says that people have dignity due to his capacity for friendship or community. He mentions that vitality theory finds it hard to explain human rights related to the freedom in participating in politics.
