ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of the U.S. Government Accountability Office to launch an investigation into sexual abuse at U.S. immigration detention centers. The administration of President Barack Obama is debating whether to include immigration detainees in pending regulations on prison rape prevention. Human rights activists are calling for the inclusion of immigration detainees in the new regulations to be rolled out in early 2012.
