ABSTRACT
The article explains how the alternative to the U.S. Affordable Care Act proposed by Republicans undermines state rules. Republican critics of the health care reform law argue that Congress has no power to order states what to do about health care. It is suggested that the Republican proposal allows consumers to purchase insurance across state lines, replacing state power with a nationalized market.
