ABSTRACT
This paper reviews over thirty years' research on gender and consumer behaviour, identifying the different gender issues that have concerned consumer researchers over this period. It highlights how inter-disciplinary perspectives have contributed to new theoretical insights on gender and introduced a variety of methodological approaches that have advanced our knowledge of gender and consumption. The paper concludes by identifying emerging gender theories that are likely to influence future research in this area.
