ABSTRACT
The article discusses the history of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA). The department's creation in 1936 is described, and the history of libraries and archives in Kentucky prior to its inception is touched on. Events in the department's history including new buildings, reorganizations, and expansion of services are also explored.
