ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the developments in the consumer demand in the U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2011. The index of consumer sentiment increased by 5.8 while the consumer confidence index of the Conference Board climbed by 9.4 points after its decline in November. Moreover, retail sales grew by 0.2% in November due to strong auto dealers and electronic store sales.
