ABSTRACT
The article reports that the moves by Jeff Wooller's group to persuade the members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to vote for direct election of their president were narrowly defeated in the 1998 annual general meeting. However, another one of the group's resolutions, to reduce council size, has gained majority support.
